This book is a highly illustrated sketch of the history of the Lab’s research and educational activities from rustic beginnings to world renown. It will contain an introduction by Bruce Stillman, and a main text by Jan Witkowski consisting of three elements: an illustrated essay about the research done at the Lab's founding institutions from 1890 through 1962; a second illustrated essay about the research discoveries and accomplishments in education from 1962 to the present day; a section of "vignettes," short, highly structured accounts of 40 highlights from the Lab’s track record of research.
